Pursuing
its focus on 4 key areas and mission, PRAY conceived
and launched an ambitious project to provide:
1. FREE Basic Education
2. FREE Primary Health Services
3. FREE Old Age Home for destitute
4. FREE Vocational Training for self-employment
PRAY has been involved in providing aid and support
to individuals on case to case basic for quite some
time now. The project is a result of several brain
storming sessions to consolidate various activities
and provide a platform for growth in a consistent
manner. This is a conscious decision by the Foundation
to put its feet firmly on the ground and operate at
the ground level to ensure that aid and support reach
the right and deserving individuals.
The 2nd big question was where to set up the first
project. This was comparatively simple so to say.
PRAY Foundation Trustees initiated discussions at
formal and informal level with various individuals
and organisations. Based on many factors including
support and familiarity with the local region, need
analysis etc; an almost unanimous decision was to
initiate the experiment in a province in North India.
PRAY constituted a project team of volunteers to
help them to draw up a project plan, financial analysis,
and feasibility study. The Team comprises of experts
with many years of experience in , setting up and
managing institutions, civil engineering and design
experts, business management, medical faculty to name
a few.

accommodate 15 students in each class. This program
will be run on a full day basis lasting for 6 months
including hands on training. The students will be
provided with Free Meal during the training time.
The main take aways from the Project study are:
1. Project set up cost – Euro 650.000
2. Project running cost – Euro 7,000 per month
(Euro 84,000 per year)
The project team recommended that over a period of
time, once the operations are stable, PRAY must strive
to push self sustainability in the project. A couple
of recommendations are as below:
1. To make provision for Old people who have resources
but no one to look after them. They can pay a reasonable
amount per month to cover their boarding and lodging.
2. To set up a repair and maintenance section for
looking after its own facilities and also undertaking
electrical/plumbing/carpentry projects on payment
basis.
PRAY Foundation members do appreciate this direction
and advice. PRAY commits to taking these and others
up for discussions at an appropriate stage in future.
